FHI 360 Moldova

October 1 – December 31, 2015

This report covers the eighth quarterly reporting period (October 1 – December 31, 2015) of the Moldova Partnerships for Sustainable Civil Society (MPSCS) project. MPSCS is a five-year project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by FHI 360.

Some of the highlights of the work accomplished during this period include: 

Objective 1: CSOs More Effectively Represent their Constituencies

API together with its partners - Independent Journalism Center and Association of Independent TV Journalists - launched STOP FALS! campaign against false and biased information by publishing three articles, distributing two TV programs and two newspaper supplements targeting more than 280,000 Moldovans.  
MPSCS partner CSOs mobilized more than 500 volunteers to support their ongoing projects.
MPSCS partner CSOs influenced 12 decisions of the local public authorities as result of advocacy campaigns to improve social service provision and protection of children’s rights.   
MPSCS partner CSOs reached and informed more than 1,500,000 about the positive impact of Moldova’s European Union integration through public events and informational materials.
MPSCS partner CSOs under the People with Disabilities Rights program served 224 people with disabilities and trained 61 people with disabilities and their guardians.

Objective 2: Institutional Capacities of Strategic Partners Developed 

More than 60 CSO representatives trained in project writing, human resources and results based management by Contact Centre in partnership with Consultancy and Training Organization Caraseni.
Twelve CSOs’ accountants developed their skills in accounting software through practical trainings carried out by Center for Organizational Consultancy and Training.
Twenty-two partner CSOs reported budget increase as a result of domestic source mobilization and self-financing. 

Objective 3: Enabling Environment More Conducive to Long-Term Sustainability of Civil Society 

More than 100 CSO representatives discussed civil society development at the eighth National Forum of CSOs and submitted recommendations and priorities to donors and Government of Moldova.
Motivatie initiated the CSO- Government of Moldova working group on developing a social entrepreneurship legal framework.
Through study visits to Slovakia and Hungary, MPSCS developed the skills of eight civil servants on the percentage implementing regulation as applied in EU countries. 
MPSCS developed a draft study report on CSO fundraising and philanthropy in Moldova for civil society feedback.
