VACANCY: Training Coordinator (one-year position)

Position Description:

FHI 360’s Moldova Partnerships for Sustainable Civil Society (MPSCS) is a five-year,2013-2018, project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The purpose of the project is to improve the capacity of Moldovan civil society to represent citizen’s interests, influence policymaking, and sustain the sector’s democratic role for the future. 

MPSCS seeks qualified candidates for the position of Training Coordinator in Chisinau.

The Training Coordinator will contribute to the design, management and implementation of capacity building initiatives for civil society organizations (CSOs) in Moldova, including organizing and coordinating training events, workshops, and providing technical assistance to MPSCS grantees. He/she will work also closely with Grants program personnel to track a certain number of grants, ensure grant applications and paperwork comply with USAID and FHI 360 rules and regulations, suggest corrective measures, and provide technical assistance as needed. The Training Coordinator will report to theSenior Capacity Building and Gender Manager.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the MPSCS to implement the CSOs Capacity Building Strategy;
  • Assist the Senior Capacity Building and Gender Manager to design and implement a participatory curriculum, interactive training interventions, and individualized technical assistance for Moldovan CSO and other core partners;
  • Support the delivery of individualized technical assistance to MPSCS partner CSOs and other CSOs according to their capacity building needs (organizational management and governance, financial management, advocacy and outreach, policy development);
  • Conduct organizational analyses and needs assessments for selected CSOs;
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on program results that measure increases in skills and abilities, and determine the impact of training interventions;
  • Supervise the implementation of the grantees awards/capacity building components;
  • Support the delivery of workshops, trainings, and/or provide hands-on technical assistance to grantees or potential grantees;
  • Maintain a successful grants tracking system to quickly and easily assess the status and performance of the supervised grantees, including any implementation issues;
  • Develop and draft program work plans, reports and other documentation as needed, such as training and resource materials, presentations, and budget proposals;
  • Perform pre-award grantee activities, including draft management questionnaires and negotiation memos, develop accurate budgets and budget narratives, provide supporting documentation, as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent. Master’s degree or its international equivalent preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience in civil society, governance, organizational capacity building, advocacy, rule of law, or other related democracy and governance sectors;
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience with capacity strengthening activities or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum 2 years training experience, including the design, facilitation and delivery of participatory trainings and training-of-trainer workshops for adult learners;
  • At least 2 years of experience with grants programs, design and management of civil society grants programs preferred;
  • Familiarity with USAID programming, rules and regulations will be an advantage;
  • Fluency in Romanian and/or Russian and English (reading, writing and speaking).
