FHI 360 Moldova

The road to financial sustainability of civil society organizations Regional conference in Chisinau (May 15-16, 2018)

Financial stability is a cornerstone topic for most civil society organisations in Moldova, where around 80 % of civil society organizations (CSO) funding comes from foreign sources.  The new 2% designation mechanism, ministries’ grants, donations from individuals, service contracts, and social enterprises could serve as alternative and sustainable sources of funding for CSOs to be able to continue their work and services.

The European Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ECNL) and FHI 360 have been working to improve the civil sector in Moldova and to promote alternative tools of financing since 2013  under the Moldova Partnerships for Sustainable Civil Society Program (further – MPSCS) with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Now they convene civil society organisations, experts on civil society funding and policy makers from Moldova, Europe, and the region to share different experiences in applying alternative financing models for CSOs. The conference “The road to financial sustainability of civil society organizations” is supported by USAID and the European Union.

We invite you to:

  • Learn: about various funding models and how they have been applied in practice in other countries.
  • Discuss: engage in a policy debate and identify specific avenues for reform in Moldova.
  • Act: discover practical tools that your organisation can apply in the daily work and help you to pursue your goals more effectively.
